On July 30, Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Limited (better known as GAMECO) and XPENG AEROHT entered into a strategic partnership. This collaboration will leverage XPENG AEROHT’s expertise in flying car technology and GAMECO’s extensive experience in large civil aircraft maintenance and engineering. Together, they will focus on aircraft maintenance, parts manufacturing, engineering services and support, and personnel training. Their aim is to develop a comprehensive after-sales maintenance system for flying cars, ensuring consumers receive reliable and convenient after-sales support.
During the event, witnessed by leaders from the Civil Aviation Administration of China Southern Regional Administration and the Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone Management Committee, XPENG AEROHT and GAMECO signed the strategic cooperation agreement. Attendees also experienced XPENG AEROHT’s Voyager X2 and toured GAMECO’s professional civil aviation large aircraft maintenance facilities. The field of low-altitude flight is innovative, with many standards still to be established and perfected. Aircraft maintenance is a detailed and rigorous process, involving structural inspections, system maintenance, component repairs and replacements, software and hardware upgrades, troubleshooting, document management, and personnel training.
As a leader in domestic aviation maintenance, GAMECO possesses comprehensive maintenance capabilities for various models under Airbus, Boeing, and COMAC. This expertise will assist XPENG AEROHT in establishing a flying car after-sales maintenance service system at both the whole vehicle and component levels, based on civil aviation safety management standards. XPENG AEROHT will provide GAMECO with necessary data and coordination support, helping to expand business in the low-altitude economy field for mutual benefit.
Earlier this year, in March, XPENG AEROHT’s first flying car for personal users, the “Land Carrier,” had its type certificate (TC) application officially accepted by the Civil Aviation Administration of China Southern Regional Administration. Continuous airworthiness work is also part of this review. In this partnership, both companies will prioritize the joint development of continuous airworthiness documents, adding another layer of safety to product operations.
Marc Szepan, General Manager of GAMECO, commented, “Low-altitude travel is an emerging sector in urban three-dimensional transportation, and we have been eager to participate. XPENG AEROHT, as a leading company in low-altitude travel, has accumulated significant technology and data in flying cars, which will help GAMECO quickly develop capabilities in the low-altitude travel field. Additionally, GAMECO will apply its 35 years of technology and experience in civil aviation maintenance to explore new models of low-altitude travel with XPENG AEROHT, promoting high-quality development of the industry ecosystem.”
Qiu Mingquan, Vice President of XPENG AEROHT, stated, “Safety has always been our primary concern. We aim to provide consumers with extremely safe products and reassuring services. GAMECO’s technical expertise will help XPENG AEROHT establish a more professional continuous airworthiness system, speeding up the commercialization of flying cars and bringing significant benefits to the industry and consumers.”
In 2024, XPENG AEROHT’s split-type flying car “Land Carrier” will officially open for pre-orders in the fourth quarter, and the construction of a mass production factory for flying cars will commence, initially focusing on the production of the flight vehicle part.
